J.-Louis Lévesque: A Munificent Patron
|
In 1969, one man would change the destiny of the MHI:
J.-Louis Lévesque, a successful Montreal businessman who wanted to support cardiology research. Impressed by Dr. David's accomplishments, he donated $1 million to the young institution. In fact, he doubled the research department's budget overnight.
Coming from a man who would settle for nothing less than excellence in all things, this generous act was an acknowledgement of the high-quality research being conducted at the Institute. This was a turning point for the MHI: from then on, research would become a main focus.

When he died in 1995, this great philanthropist had supported the Institute for a quarter of a century and endowed it with some $10 million.
