The ÉPIC Foundation

Mission
The mission of the ÉPIC Foundation is to raise funds to support the projects, services, research, training and equipment costs of its primary undertaking: the ÉPIC Centre of the Montréal Heart Institute.

History and accomplishments
The ÉPIC Centre and its Foundation are really a single entity in that one does not go without the other. And we might add that members of the ÉPIC Centre are, in large part, members of the ÉPIC Foundation. Foundation donors or supporters can be considered as full-fledged members of the Centre.

Do you know of any other not-for-profit organizations with so many members? In fact, very few ÉPIC members have never contributed in some way or another to their Foundation. More importantly, almost two thousand (2,000) members have reached Governor status. This is an exceptional and truly unique scenario. Could the members of any organization ever be asked to show a greater sign of their commitment?

Since the ÉPIC Centre was founded in 1968 and funds started being raised to support its endeavours, it has never stopped involving members in its development and sharing its philosophies and goals with them.  The Foundation was able to turn the Centre's projects into reality and ensure its development in the greatest sense possible.

The Foundation has contributed millions of dollars directly to the Centre, from its initial construction in 1973 to the numerous improvements made since then. And since 1983, or over the past 20 years, the Foundation has contributed more than $3.5 million towards the purchase of the best equipment on the market, to support the implementation of new programs and ensure very high level professional service, and to acquire the tools needed for research and prevention clinics.

The Foundation has made a difference, whether it be in the pool area, the weight room, the women's change room or medical service, with the Centre's computer equipment or its renovations. And ÉPIC members are at the heart of the Foundation and its unwavering support—there is no surprise there. Enough can never be said about the ÉPIC Centre's being so much more than an exercise facility. In fact, the Centre is a place where members share the same philosophy, the same determination to make their health a priority.
