The Transfer of Technology
|
In cardiology, as in health care in general,
the pace of research is accelerating and the findings
have an ever-increasing impact on the treatment methods
used for patients. The commercialization of research
findings in fact allows patients to benefit as quickly as
can be and in the most efficient way possible from
scientific advances.

To achieve this end, over the last few years
the Montreal Heart Institute has set out to build up a
strong portfolio of intellectual property and solicit support and
collaboration from the private sector in order to realize the
transfer of research findings for the purposes of improving the
well being of those suffering from heart disease.
The Montreal Heart Institute has established procedures to
encourage all of its investigators to be very mindful of the impact
their research findings may have in terms of improving the
efficiency of health care and diminishing the risks of heart
disease.
To ensure the commercial application of its research findings,
the MHI is banking chiefly on its investigators in the private
sector with whom it has established avenues of sharing proceeds
from commercialization in exchange for their contribution.
The MHI has several projects that are ready to be
commercialized. To learn more about these projects, please
